It only means more money out of our pockets.
This union is no different than Matchroom or Golden Boy on DAZN. Boxing fans will pay a monthly fee to have Amazon Prime, but have no fear; Amazon Prime PPV will appear shortly after that (to take more of your money).
DAZN - $24.99/monthly
ESPN + - $9.99/monthly
Amazon Prime - $14.99/monthly
I'll look to be positive for a second.
Premiere Boxing Champions has a ton of young, inactive fighters. I hope this move forces PBC to work with mid-level and local promoters to produce more shows and get more fighters active.
Flooding Amazon Prime with old fights (that we've already paid for), ain't it!
The sport needs more promoters. This is an opportunity to expand the promotional reach and build more stars, opponents, journeymen, etc.
This may sound crazy, but... The promoters should listen to Oscar (de la Hoya) now. Come together and associate boxing. PBC has been on FOX, ESPN, CBS, NBC, Bounce, and Spike (am I missing any?).
HBO and Showtime are on the outs. Top Rank is safe at ESPN. Matchroom and Golden Boy are surviving on DAZN, but for how much longer?
All eyes are on the promoters and brains behind the sport of boxing.
