Do not allow fighters to leave you in financial shambles...
Fighters should balance working a job while training at the beginning of their careers.
Training 2-3 times a day for several months is wild. Especially without a fight date.
There is a good deal of idle time in between training sessions. Enough time to earn income through a craft or trade.
As a manager, you provide a service in the boxer's career, earning you a percentage. Involving yourself as an investor in their personal life is a no-no. Allow the fighter to struggle. Those growing pains will only make them hungrier. The comfortability of managerial dollars ruined a lot of great fighters.
A boxing manager providing loans to a fighter to take care of a few bills is one thing.
A boxing manager bankrolling a fighter's livelihood in total is something else.
Just as I encourage fighters to protect themselves from the business, I am informing managers to protect their finances from the fighters.
